Villar, the country\u2019s seventh richest man according to Forbes, is into various businesses such as malls, homes, hotels and memorial park.<\/em><\/p>\n

MANILA, Philippines \u2014 Real estate and mall magnate Manuel B. Villar Jr. plans to expand his empire to include gaming, industrial leasing and infrastructure as the family hopes to hitch a ride on the country\u2019s booming economy.<\/p>\n

Villar, the country\u2019s seventh richest man according to\u00a0Forbes<\/em>, is into various businesses such as malls, homes, hotels and memorial park.<\/p>\n

In a recent briefing, his son Manuel Paolo Villar, president and CEO of Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. said the family is looking at other sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur family is seriously looking into gaming. The prospects of responsible gaming in the country are good,\u201d the younger Villar said.<\/p>\n

The group has already filed an application with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. for the development of a casino on a 1,000-hectare property in Dasmari\u00f1as, Cavite.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Paolo said the company may get a foreign partner just like what the other local firms have done.<\/p>\n

Aside from gaming, the family is also eyeing the infrastructure industry, particularly airports.<\/p>\n

His brother, Mark Villar is the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways.<\/p>\n

Industry sources told The STAR that the Villar Group is eyeing a mass housing project from the government.<\/p>\n

Villar-led Golden Haven Inc. recently changed its name to Golden Bria Holdings Inc., as part of its diversification into mass housing.<\/p>\n

Aside from gaming and infrastructure, the Villar group will also engage in the telecommunications business.
